Umbrella FAQ's
• Can I claim more expenses with Gain than other
umbrella companies.?
No. The non taxable expenses rules are the
same for every umbrella company so you cannot differentiate on the basis of
expenses. Differentiators are the costs and quality of the service provided.
• What expenses can I claim?
You will be able to claim any legitimate expenses which have been incurred
wholly and exclusively for the purpose of your business. In the main this will
be travel and mileage expenses and daily allowances for food and accommodation
when working away from home.
• Do I have to provide fuel VAT receipts?
No. However, please note that all mileage claims must be supported by a valid
V5 Vehicle Registration document prior to any claims being processed. Without
this document we will be unable to process any mileage claims.
• Is there a set-up charge?
No. Getting started with Gain Umbrella couldn't be easier and is
free of
charge.
• Do you charge me for leaving?
Absolutely not! In the event your circumstances change and you need to leave
us, just let us know and we'll arrange for the formalities to be completed.
• What are your fees?
We charge a flat £6 per week and there are no hidden costs.
• Do I get tax relief on your weekly fee?
Yes you do, as this is a legitimate business expense.
• Do I get holiday pay?
No all of your salary will be paid over each
week and as a director you
may take
holiday when it suits you.
• Do I get Statutory Sick Pay (SSP)?
Yes.
In the event you are unable
to work due to sickness, you will be eligible for SSP currently at the standard
weekly rate
for up to 28 weeks.
• Do you help find me work?
No. As a director, you are responsible for finding your own work. However,
Gain will be pleased to recommend your services.
• Do you charge for your same day CHAPS transfer?
We often have this question from those who have not appreciated the finance
arrangements Gain has put in place to ensure that cash is available. Money is
sent to your account by BACS to arrive in it by Friday whether or not payment
for your work has arrived in time from the “agency” you worked for or not.. By
utilising low cost BACS, this not only avoids the need for costly CHAPS payments
but allows us to ensure that your costs are the lowest in the industry. (With
others if you don’t pay for CHAPS individually, you probably pay for it in a
higher cost fee).
• Do I have the correct insurance cover?
Yes.
• Do you provide a personal accident insurance
policy?
No. We are not insurance brokers or salesmen
but we shall be pleased to tell you of one if you wish.
• What type of savings could I make under the
Gain Umbrella?
It depends on your earnings and level of expenses. If you would like an
